Village Aid are an international development charity who specifically support community based organisations working in rural areas of Africa. We run literacy and education programmes, facilitate in-country coordinator training and build the capacity of local organisations to be self sufficient.

Story

Hi everyone, thanks for visiting my page.

It is my big 50 this year and to celebrate I have convinced my family (not hard except for the teenagers who would rather be in bed!) to do a sponsored walk of ten miles with me on Sunday 5th July. As there is 5 of us that will be 50 miles for 50 years. All money raised will go to the International Development charity Village Aid so please do support us by making a donation.

Please do give generously particularly as one individual has pledged to match every pound given up to a maximum of £1000 - this means we can make every pound of yours worth £2!!

Village Aid undertake 'grass roots' development work in West Africa (Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana and the Gambia). Working with locally based partners we help change the lives of some of the most disadvantaged people and communities in the world. Visit www.villageaid.org for some great stories and more information.

Of course I am rather biased as I have just started a new full time job with them. Whilst many of Village Aid's programmes are funded by the likes of Comic Relief and DFID we also rely heavily on support from individuals, without this we would simply not be able to help as many individuals and communities so if you can please help.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. If you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation and, because we work directly with locally based partners, you can be sure your gift will really make a difference.

 Thanks again, Adrian
