LONDON TO YORK SPEED MARCH -240 MILES

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

In August 2009  five members of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service staff are intending to speed march, whilst pulling a trailer, from the Cenotaph in London to Parliament Street in York, to raise money for Help for Heroes, the armed services charity.

They plan to set off on the 8 day speed march on 17 August; this will see them covering 240 miles, marching an average of 30 miles a day.

Those taking part are Watch Manager Justin Rowe from Malton Fire Station, Watch Manager Pete Schofield from Whitby Fire Station, Station Manager Mark Naylor from Whitby Fire Station, Firefighter Terence Gregg and Firefighter Adrian Riley both from York Fire Station, all of whom have served in the armed forces.

“We all know someone who has been injured or who died whilst serving their country and we wanted to do our bit to support and raise awareness of the Help for Heroes Charity.”

The team will be carrying out training days through out the next few months, including a march from Whitby to Scarborough (Old railway line) to test the trailer on the 10th April.

Before they set off they will be attending an official reception at the armed services rehabilitation centre at Headley Court where they will meet injured servicemen and women.

Proceeds from their fundraiser will be used by Help For Heroes towards plans to build convalescence homes in the UK.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please please help this fantastic charity and sponsor the team now!
