The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

On October the 2nd 2009 three young aspiring adventurers will be leaving the comforts of their homes to travel India.  They will be travelling over 3200km in a rickshaw and the road ahead will be littered with danger.  They will be crossing all manner of terrain from deserts, to plains, to mountain ranges to jungles as they batter and push their rickshaw around a country steeped in culture and rich history.

They would just like to emphasize that this is not a holiday or an excuse for a jolly.  We have a lot of activities lined up, which include spending a day helping out at a local orphanage in Ahmedabad. They will be spending each night sleeping in the wilderness or in city slums in their beautiful canvas home (a tent).  This is by no means going to be a luxury journey.

To get to the end of this adventure they will have to improvise on somewhat circuitous routes.

Just what will happen to them between the start, the plains, the mountains, the bandits and the wilderness is anyone's guess ...

Follow them via their blog or on Twitter.
