When you are all sitting back relaxing on the 2nd longest day of the year Uncle Glynn, my cousin Craig and I have decided to push the family bond that wee bit further and attempt the Highland Cross together. We are talking now but come race day all bets are off and the family tie becomes severed!!!!
The Highland cross is an invitational event which consists of a 20 mile run followed by a 30 mile cycle across the Scottish highlands, yes there will be blood, sweat and loads of Munro's (Scottish Mountains)-Bring it on!!!!!
The purpose of the event is to push ourselves through the pain barrier and finally decide who is the quickest after all, no rules just the first to cross the line. Will it be the representative from ? England/Scotland? (poor Craig wee bit confused) or Aussie determination to cross the line 1st!!!!! Being the considerate chaps we are we have decided to raise as much cold hard cash to support the 4 highland charities as a way of saying thank you for putting up with us pounding the trail.
The Charities are:
· Highland Disability Sport
· Merkinch Community Centre
· Multiple Sclerosis Society -Inverness& Nairn Branch
· Skye and Lochalsh Mental Health Association
I expect all of you to chip in and donate what you can afford to a good cause and as a way of saying thank you we shall provide photo evidence of the event, unsigned, but if you are really generous we may even sign them for you. (Restricted to 20 copies only) You can hand the goods to us by hand or follow the links to Donate through the Justgiving website. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us as Highland Cross gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
