Story
In July this year a mixed capbadge British Army team currently serving in Helmand province of Afghanistan will attempt to run a marathon around their base camp. Due to the size of the camp this means running over 71 laps in the Afghan heat which will be up to 40˚C!!
Capt Trish Patterson, 19 Reg, Royal Artillery, Capt Lewis, Capt Matts and Lt Maguire 1 R Welsh will be competing against one another for the winning position.
The team are raising money for the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) a charity who support service men and women of the BrItish Army who put everything on the line to defend us and our country. The charity provides practical and financial help to soldiers, their families and veterans in times of need.
Obviously work comes first, so the team have very little time for their training between their patrols and operation planning. However, they are extremely dedicated to this cause and are putting all their spare energies into preparation.
Due to the British Army's current commitments, the number of soldiers that need help from the ABF is rising so please dig deep and give what you can! :D
