Ummah Welfare Trust was founded to challenge the huge poverty and injustice prevalent in the Ummah today. Inspired by the Islamic teachings of empathy and selflessness, the charity strives to support and uplift the impoverished through the beautiful act of charity.

Story

Assalaamu Alaikum (peace be upon you)

Why we need to be supporting the people of Sudan?

- Sudan is one of the world's poorest countries

- Many people are dying of hunger/thirst or curable diseases

- millions are currently homeless with no more then 1 pair of cothing

- 70% of the north of the country and 90% of the south live on less than 65p per day

- Most of the population is nourished from subsistence agriculture. Food is so scarce that during droughts lives are endangered.

- Estimated 10% of children are left orphaned

- In Southern Sudan, 1 in 4 children die before their fifth birthday

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604
