My story

Earlier this year one of my great pals, and a friend to many of you, William Douglass sadly passed away aged 43 leaving behind his wife Sandra and two fantastic young sons, Paddy and Toby. Will was diagnosed with cancer last summer and in the following months had to endure endless trips to hospital for tests and treatments which were both  painful and very stressful.

During this extremely difficult time, William benefitted enormously from the care and support from St. Oswald's Hospice, not only in terms of having a restful place to stay (which he far preferred to hospital) but also from the thoughtful and sympathetic nurses.

It has been an incredibly sad and testing time for many of us but I am endeavouring to channel my energy into something positive by getting on my bike to help raise funds for St Oswald's Hospice. Without charitable support this incredible organisation could not have helped alleviate the suffering of Will and so many others over the years in the North East with terminal illnesses not to mention also helping their families.

On July 10th my brother (Simon) and I are cycling the Coast to Coast route which begins at Workington and finishes at Tynemouth. I have done it before but that doesn't make it any less daunting as I know what lies in store and I'm not getting any younger!. We are aiming to complete the 140+ miles in 2 days …or maybe a little less!

Any help would be fantastic.
