kilimanjaro Hike · 24 July 2008

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hey guys!

Mount Kilimanjaro stands at an impressive 19340ft (5895m) over the African plains - and Im going to hike to its summit !!!!! I will be following the Lemosho Trail for the 8 day hike! Im away from 26th June - 7th July 2009. The Altitude can make the trek that bit harder.......but Ill give it my best shot!

As many of you know my Uncle John died in January this year, after suffering with Alzheimer's Disease for 5 years (from first signs). It was soon after that time that I decided to take this challenge and to raise the money in his honour.

I have been amazed to discover how many people have been affected by Alzheimer's in one way or another. The funds I raise will help the Society to continue it's work to provide information and support people with all forms of dementia and those who care for them. I am hoping that by raising funds for Alzheimer's Society that more support can be provided for carers as well as allowing the Society to continue its search for a cure.

Any donation you would like to give would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you. Aideen
