Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

2600 metres of climbing.

27 miles of running.

3 ascents, 3 descents.

On Monday 6 June 2011, 10 years after the first attempt to run all six routes of Snowdon in a single day, Andrew Johnson successfully repeated the achievement.. We even managed to improve on the 2001 time (10 hours 4 minutes), finishing 9 hours and 30 minutes aft0r the 7:06am start.

It was misty at the summit when I got there the first time, but clear and sunny on the second and third occasions. I struggled with a tight and painful right calf from part-way up the second ascent and felt completely wiped out well before I reached the top of the Watkin Path.

For those of you who are interested, here are the times of each leg, with the 2001 times in brackets:
- Snowdon Ranger - ascent - 70 min (70)
- Rhyd Ddu/Beddgelert - descent - 58 min (66)
- road to Pont Bethania - 42 min (46)
- Watkin Path - ascent - 1 hour 45 min (1:38)
- Miners' Track - descent - 64 min (64)
- Pyg Track - ascent - 89 min (88)
- Llanberis Path - descent - 57 min (73)

We are raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Andrew’s 15 year old neice, who has CF, is the inspiration for the Snowdon Challenge.

Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases, affecting over 8,500 people. At the time of the first Snowdon Challenge in 2001, the life expectancy of people with CF was only 31 years; today, with the benefit of new research and treatment – which the CF Trust helps to fund - half of the CF population can expect to live over 38 years. Each week, five babies are born with CF but two young lives are lost.
