Story

Hi everyone!
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

POST RACE UPDATE:

Just writing to say thanks to all you guys who supported me with your donations and also those of you who turned up to cheer me on too! I'm very happy to report I finished and not only that beat my own (and everyone else's) expectations with a finish time of 2:00:47!!!

It's the first time in about 19 years I've run any kind of distance (10k previously) and it really helped to have others around running with me not to mention people who lined the route to cheer. I managed over half the distance non-stop before slowing to a brisk walk at one of the drink stations. From then on it was run a mile, walk for 30 seconds and repeat until I got to about 150 yards from the finish and then it was sprint time. It was a great feeling to know the discomfort of a long distance runner was over and I'd achieved what I'd set out to do. Just think of what I might have achieved with proper training! The celebratory cider once I'd warmed down and met up with friends and supporters never tasted so good! Anyway I'm now almost recovered from limping down stairs and creaking when I get up from the seated position. Will I do it again? 'Hell no', was my immediate response 5 minutes after finishing but now the pain has eased I'm not saying never.......

If you like, please send this Justgiving page on to anyone else who still might like to donate - it stays online until mid December.

Thank you.
