The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Dealing with cancer is a hard thing to do. And those going through it, and those close to them, need all the support and help they can get. After losing my dad to terminal lung cancer in 2008 I came to realise that this care is as important as looking for a cure.

And, as I have a friend who is a Macmillan ambassador, it was an easy choice of who to raise money for when I thought of this challenge.

The challenge itself is to ride across the Scottish mainland, on June 14th and 15th 2012, from Ardnamurchan Point to Boddam; lighthouse to lighthouse. To make it slightly harder for an overweight, middle-aged cyclist I'm going to do it in two days. Both around the 125 mile mark. Can I do it? I hope so...

I'm in training and you can read about the ups and downs of that in my blog. There's also a page there detailing the challenge.

Donations now will keep me training, donations nearer the time will make it easier.
