Story
Hi, my name is Alan Lacey - from Chorley, Lancashire (formerly from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire !)
I will be running in the Flora London Marathon on 17th April 2005 to raise funds for the PHABKids Charity.
This will be my 6th Marathon, the second time I will have run in the Flora London Marathon, and I am aiming to complete the course in under 4 hours.
PHABKids is a national charity which is dedicated to promoting and encouraging the coming together, on equal terms, of disabled and non-disabled children to achieve an integrated and inclusive society.
There are 250 PHAB clubs in England with a combined total of over 15,000 members.
Phab creates opportunities for the disabled and able-bodied to come together on equal terms by means of local clubs, holidays and activities to encourage independance , with special emphasis on children and young people. Through its important Disability awareness Programme it is also working to alter perceptions and predjudices by raising awareness of all disability issues amongst the general public. Funds raised through sponsorship will enable Phab to continue these projects and to develop new clubs in communities where no such facilities currently exist. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Phab will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. UPDATE 7th April 2004: I have pledged to raise at least £850 for PHAB and to date my fundraising has not gone as well as expected ...... any shortfall from the pledge I have to meet myself - so as well as a tough marathon run it could prove to be quitte expensive ! From a more positive point of view: I will be applying to my employer, Halifax plc, to match the funds I raise - and all being well they will match me £1 for £1 for the first £500 raised - so every £1 you sponsor me is worth £2 ! Please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
