Story

Julie is a volunteer for Stoke & Newcastle Branch of Cats Protection she is doing a foursome event to raise money to help the cat in the photo with no hair. He was brought in to care like this and also needs a lot of medical treatment as yet we don't know how much this is all going to cost but it is something we feel we have to do. We are all very proud of Julie and think she is very brave to do this for him she said she is also doing it for the memory of her own cat and all cats we here at stoke try to help but I will let you read her story for your self below.

I am Julie I am 41 yrs old , I work p/time & am also a volunteer with the cats protection Stoke & Newcastle at the branch we health check all cats & kittens which come in to our care & also get any treatment done required , we provide foster care & homecheck before rehoming , we also know what its like to love & lose not just a cat but a beloved member of our family so thats why I'd like to share my very personal story with you . In Sept 2000 I fostered 3 kittens who were just 3 wks old after their mother rejected them one of them we nicknamed E.T was very sick & it was touch & go when it was time for the kittens to leave , I looked at my husband Michael & knew he felt the same E.T stayed , in 2006 E.T became unwell tests showed he had diabetes , we learned how to inject him with insulin twice a day he was so good in Nov 2007 he became very ill & was in & out of the vets his kidneys were packing in , we prepared ourselves to say goodbye , even Michael was reduced to tears , then the vet came in & said if he was mine I would give him one more round of treatment I was overjoyed , I picked him up later that day , we spent the weekend not letting him out of our sight & took these photo's you see , on Mon the 26th Nov Michael had left to work away for the week , I got up & looked at E.T I knew the day had come to make that very painful decision , I called the vet to come out I asked the vet what she thought , she said it was time , not the answer I wanted , E.T wasn't just a cat he was our baby & letting him go was the hardest thing I've ever done , but it was the right thing for him , I had him cremated & keep his ashes in a special photo fame so I will always have him .In May 2008 my daughter's friend knocked with a fuffy black & white kitten she said she had found tied up in a box , but one their other friends had kittens she couldn't rehome do I think I was set up yes ! , I still had 2 cats & it was too soon but I couldn't turn him away & he stayed , we called him Ollie he made me smile but also reminded me of what I'd lost & had me in tears at times & still does , losing E.T will always hurt , I can't have every cat in the world , but I can help , the cats protection is a wonderful charity so please support me in the awesome foursome event which is a Zipslide , Abseil , Powerfan & the worlds heightest indoor bungee jump at 150 ft , I have a fear of heights but it won't stop me , last year I did a tamderm skydive over 10,000 ft along with Diane another volunteer at our branch , helping cats will over come any fear !
