Wessex 100 · 11 May 2009

DGSM yourChoice supports adults with learning disabilities, their families and carers in the Kent and Medway areas. We do this by providing numerous services which range from 24 hour residential and independent housing, employment & training, respite holidays and a variety of leisure activities.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: DGSM yourChoice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

The Wessex 100 Challenge

The aim is to complete, on foot, a defined route of 100 miles within 48 hours from 10.00 am on Saturday 23rd May 2009. All entrants must finish by 10.00 am on Monday 25th May.

Route

The Wessex 100 starts at Eggars School, Alton, Hampshire (GR SU728406), then follows a circular route , using map and compass, which will be set out in detail in a full Route Description. The route is mainly on footpaths and tracks over the beautiful Hampshire and Sussex Downs with a total ascent of 11,320 feet.

This is my first attempt at a continuous 100 mile walk and I will do my best to complete the whole route. The fact that I am raising money for two local good causes is certainly an incentive to go on when I might feel like giving up. It's going to be painful and exhausting, but as the saying goes "No gain without pain" (what sadist thought that one up) and I am hoping the charities will gain as much as possible.
