Alan Young,  54 from Edinburgh will be setting off on the 2nd November.

He will  be raising money for the FSH-MD Support Group UK and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

Before starting the Route Alan will cycle from Edinburgh, down through England over to France, to the starting point at Nantes

Eurovelo Route-6 runs from Nantes on the mouth of the Loire along the river eastward through France. It continues on to Lake Constance in Switzerland and then down the Danube through Germany, Austria Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania to the UNESCO site of the Danube Delta and ends in Constanta on the Black Sea. The Route is virtually 4000 km. and Alan is hoping tocomplete it in approximately 60 days.

Alan is only sleeping in a tent so when he reaches Nantes if the weather is looking too bad to continue travelling east, which is looking more and more likely he will carry on south, down through France, over the Pyrenees into Spain down to Gibraltar. This route would be a little bit longer but the weather would hopefully be kinder.
