Flora London Marathon 2003 · 13 April 2003 ·

The Brain and Spine Foundation transforms the daily reality of people affected by any neurological condition, anywhere in the UK, through frontline professional services, innovative social research, and bold campaigning for change.

Story

Ok - so it's probably a mid-life crisis type of thing! Last summer, after much ribbing on the beaches of Cornwall, I decided it was better to look like a THIN, balding old git then a FAT one!! So, as you do, I started running.

One thing led to another and I began to think I might apply for the marathon not imagining I would get in first time. What do you know? Wish I had the same luck when I buy a Lottery ticket!

Anyway it has given me the chance to raise money for the Brain and Spine Foundation. Memories of my brother Dave came flooding back after Christmas when we heard that Jan's nephew Sean was seriously ill with an abcess on the brain. The abcess caused swelling and partial damage of the brain. Sean has been left with no movement of his limbs and until recently was unable to breathe unaided. It will take him a long time to fully recover.

So, I've decided to run the race for Dave and Sean and try to raise as much money for the Brain and Spine Foundation as I can.

Please sponsor me online.

It's the most efficient way for me to raise funds for my charity. If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you.

Both myself and my chosen charity really appreciate your donation. Any amount will make a difference but please try to give generously!
Many thanks.
