My story

As if running the London Marathon in April wasn't enough, I've entered the New York race in November.   Again, I'll be running on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support.  Over the last 2 years many generous people have helped me to raise over £10,000 for this very worthwhile cause. Remember, 1 in 3 of us will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives - Macmillan are there to care for those who are impacted, not just medically but emotionally, financially and socially.

I want to change my style of fundraising this time round and seek small donations from lots of people.  I'd like to raise awareness of the work Macmillan is doing through asking you to involve your friends and family when sponsoring me, encouraging everyone you know to make a donation.

I'm asking for both a minimum and maximum donation of £10 per person with the aim of getting at least 150 people to donate.

Some of you have promised money in the past and, what with one thing and another, have not been able to make the payment happen.  I'd really like you to make good on your promise this time, not by giving the money yourself but by getting everyone you know to chip in £10.  More people donating means more people becoming aware of what Macmillan is about.

To help you justify this, I assure you that I'll be putting myself through the usual miserable training - several hundred km of practice runs, at least a couple of half marathons and, to help prepare for the far bumpier course that is NY, a good few hill climbs.  I'll post updates on my blog as usual.

Previous fund raising pages are here, 2005 London and 2006 London.
