There is a small village in Mali, West Africa, where the children are taught in extremely basic conditions with no equipment or running water.
I am raising money for a proper school with sanitation, three classrooms and equipment which will immediately benefit the 150 pupils and greatly improve the future prospects of the village.
The children are currently taught in temporary classrooms made of wood and straw. These poor conditions mean they miss a lot of school through illness and are not receiving much of an education. The new school won't just benefit the children, it will also indirectly help all 1,351 members of the community by providing them with 100 trees, a new borehole and handpump giving them convenient access to clean drinking water.
The project is managed by Plan International and I am fundraising with 19 others to pay for the school which we will also be helping to build.
Turner Broadcasting (TCM, CNN, Cartoon Network, etc) and the volunteers are funding the trip expenses between us and now need your help to provide money to build the school.
Mali is the third poorest country in the world and so anything that you can spare will go a long way towards providing the bricks and mortar and helping to pay the local builders.
So if you can give a few pounds* it will make a huge difference to hundreds of people and a whole village for many years to come.
