I recently spent four months working to promote the fund within the Home Office and its agencies.  During this time I was lucky enough to visit fund headquarters and gain an insight into the fantastic work they do in supporting current and retired staff who are experiencing real difficulties.

What struck me was that the people that the fund help could have been me, my family, friends or pretty much any one of us who had hit hard times.

I wanted to do something to help and was given the opportunity to take part in the race.  The last time I ran in a race was in the school under 15 cross-country, so it would be fair to say this is going to be something of a challenge!
