The Mazda London Triathlon 2009 · 1 August 2009 ·

We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

After dipping my toe in the triathlon water with the sprint event last year, this August I intend to go the full distance - 1500m swim, 40k cycle, 10k run - in aid of Bowel Cancer UK.

Last year the husband of a good family friend died soon after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of bowel cancer. Ben, a policeman, was just 23 years old. Bowel Cancer UK aims to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer, campaigning for best treatment and care and providing practical support and advice.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bowel Cancer UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Thanks, Alan

UPDATE - 4th AUGUST 2009

Due to a recent fracture in the left tibia, instead of running the 2009 triathlon I was in hospital recovering from an operation to fix my leg. I will however, be back for the 2010 event, so there's still more time to donate!
