---------------------------------
After last years successful "4 half-marathon challenge" ( see http://www.justgiving.com/alansmith.843381 ), I decided to raise the stakes this year.
Yes, I'm still doing the Great North Run and Coventry Half Marathon in a few weeks time ( I can't do the same 4 as last year, since the Kenilworth & Leicester Halfs clash with Newcastle & Coventry ), but these are only a warm up.
The main event is on April 26th 2009, when I shall be doing my first ( and probably only ) full marathon.
If any of you have ever seen me at the end of a half-marathon, then you'll know that I'm usually in no fit state to run any further ..... I can usually bluff my way round a half, but the full marathon is a different ball game.
The charity I'm running for this year is "Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres"
Maggies Centres are a network of day-care centres, located at various places in the UK, which aim to help anyone who has, or has had cancer, as well as their family and friends. They are not intended as a replacement for conventional cancer therapy, but as a caring environment that can provide advice and support for anyone who requires it.
Their website is at http://www.maggiescentres.org where you can read more about the important role they play.
Thanks for sponsoring me.
Alan
