Story
Thanks for visiting Alan Watkins' fundraising page.
I completed the Great South Run again this year on Sundy 26th October 2008 in support of the autism charity Peach. A number of you very kindly sponsored me last year and I manged to raise £1,000 for the charity. Even though I completed the run yesterday you can still sponsor me until Dec 25th 2008.
The weather was nasty again this year although not as windy as 2007. I managed a new personal best beating my time of last year (1 hour 37 min 34 secs) by 3mins 15 seconds (1 hour 34 mins 14 sec). Although I am feeling it today.
As you may know one of my four sons, Sam (see picture), aged 14 years has autism.Sam is a happy lad with a normal IQ but despite the intensive work we havebeen doing with him since he was 3 years old he still has significant difficulties communicating.
I have been involved with Peach since its inception over 10 years ago and have been the Chairman for the last few years. It provides absolutely vital support for families and children with autism. It is only a small charity and even £10 makes a difference to us. So please support us if you can.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Peach gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
