Story
On Sunday 22nd August I'm running/jogging/walking/hobbling the Royal 5k Romp in Regents Park for the Anthony Nolan Foundation. I'm not the most athletic of people so I'm going to give it my best and see how long it takes me. Fortunately I won't be on my own, I'll have 5 other lovely people to romp with!
For the past 35 years the foundation has helped thousands of people who've urgently needed stem cell transplants to fight leukaemia and other disorders. Unlike the Blood Donor service, the Anthony Nolan register is far less restrictive on who can and can't donate, something they should be applauded for.
In the next five years they're hoping to:
Grow the register to include 1 million potential donors.
Meet 80% of transplant requests
Bank 15,000 umbilical blood units.
If they're able to do the above, then they'll be able to save twice as many lives. So it's really important to support this organisation in any way you can. I know times are tough, so donate whatever you can afford as it'll make a difference whatever the amount. My individual target is £50, so if each of the team can do the same we can raise a whopping £300!
Please help us get there :-)
Many thanks,
Alasdair
