I took a full frontal tumble on the slope last week, and have a fractured rib.  I will be running a marathon for Meningitis UK, but at the moment it is very likely that it might not be the Flora London Marathon this Sunday.

It's that time of the year again, and this year I am running for Meningitis UK. Kath and I were very shocked when one of the senior girls at Anna and Lara's school suddenly died from Meningitis just before Christmas. We didn't know her (she was in year 13 to our year 2 and Reception), but understandably the whole school was deeply distressed. The thing that struck us was the speed with which it happened - it doesn't seem to make any sense at all in 21st Century South West London.

Meningitis UK is a very small charity, with a very simple aim - to find a vaccine for all forms of the disease. Because they are small, I am really pleased that this is year I struck lucky and got a place in the ballot. That means that every penny I raise, and every pound we claim back from Alistair Darling goes directly to their cause.
