On 31 January ,2009, I will be heading out to Peru with the Vine Trust to take another look at our work with street children and our medical work in Amazonia. We now have 7 street children centres around Peru and we provide medical care to 100,000 people in remote Amazonia using our two medical boats, Amazon Hope and Amazon Hope 2. I will be travelling with a group of business people and we will be jointly looking at the projects and giving consideration to the setting up of two micro enterprises in Lima. Our aim is to try to make the work more sustainable in Peru.
Given the economic climate, fundraising has become ever more critical this year as we still have ambitions to grow the work in Peru but our costs, exchange rates and interest rates all continue to work against us.
Please consider making a donation to this vital work for some of the poorest people in the world. All your money goes to Peru as our UK costs are covered separately. In Peru, we estimate that it costs £73 per child per month to provide food, accommodation, education, clothing and care using current exchange rates.
