Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care have teamed up joint official charities for the 2012 Virgin London Marathon. Together we are TeamPB! Our goal is to recruit our biggest team to date and to raise £1 million to help change the lives of those affected by prostate and breast cancer. Prostate cancer and breast cancer are the most common cancers in men and women respectively in the UK today. This year 37,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 50,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Combined, more than 750,000 people are living with these two cancers in the UK right now. By running together we can raise more awareness and more money to support the more than 750,000 people living with these two cancers in the UK right now. Donations and Gift Aid made to the Team PB JustGiving pages will be split 50/50 between both charities.

Story

Those that know me will know that I haven't been blessed with the physique of a Kenyan marathon runner. When was the last time a Welshman won the London Marathon, exactly. So you'll appreciate that in this instance I'm not running to win but for a more important reason - raising vital funds for TeamPB, the prostate and breast cancer charity that helps people affected by prostate and breast cancer.

You can follow my progress, warts and all as I rise before dawn and pound the streets of West London in sub-zero temperatures as I resist my mid-life crisis. My Video-blog www.aleddavies.co.uk will take you deep inside the psyche of a 'wanna-be' endurance athlete.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now or I'll be sending the boys around!

Thank you in anticipation of your generous pledges (not sledges - so don't send toboggans:-)
