Windsor Triathlon · 9 February 2004

Each day in the UK five families are told their child has cancer or leukaemia. From that moment on their lives will never be the same again. Most children will survive, some will die, but the scars on every family will remain. CLIC's role is to try and help these children and their families cope and keep life as normal as possible. It offers an all-embracing approach including practical hands-on care, clinical services, financial and emotional support. CLIC has joined together with Sargent Cancer Care for Children to become the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity.

Story

In December 2002 4 year old Alessia daughter of Giuseppe Distefano the then Head of Syndicate and Credit trading at Banca IMI died after a 6 month battle with brain cancer. Gideon Gent who currently runs Debt Syndicate at Banca IMI set up Project Alessia to raise funds for Children's cancer research in the UK and Italy.

Well short of modest swimmer status 8 months ago Gent is seeking sponsorship for completion of this year's Windsor Olympic distance triathlon which takes place on June 13th; 1.5km of open water swim in the Thames followed by a 40km bike ride ending with a 10km run. This will be his first ever triathlon and first ever open water swim.

Contributions can be made directly on the web site and will go directly to Children's cancer. Italy also has a web site if that is your preference for contributions; http://www.airc.it/lombardia/progettoalessia.asp Si puo fare una donazione in memoria on line.

If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you.

Current sponsors at corporate level include Banca Profilo, Banca IMI and Snugg Wet Suits
