We believe that every child has the right to shelter, food & love, one day at a time.

Story

In September 2017 we hope to raise £1,400 to help fund the best possible start in life for orphaned children cared for by Open Arms Malawi. We will be cycling 375km through Malawi in 5 days, including parts of the Great Rift Valley. Starting near the capital Lilongwe, we will be cycling south along Lake Malawi to Monkey Bay, passing through Lake Malawi National Park to Mangochi. Then down the Shire River to the Liwonde National Park, before tackling the uphill climb to the Zomba plateau. We then cycle to the finish in  Blantyre (named after the explorer David Livingstone's home town in Scotland). It will be hot, the terrain mixed and we will be dodging mozzies and hippos!!!

We are funding the costs of the cycle challenge ourselves so all monies raised go to the charity. Donating through Just Giving is simple, fast and totally secure.  Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. It’s an efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Open Arms Malawi - helping children in Malawi, Africa suffering from hardship & distress. The charity provides accommodation, food, clothing, medical care, education and support for orphaned and neglected children.

Today, 1,890 babies will be born in Malawi. 320 will become orphans. 87 will die before their first birthday from malnutrition or illness. We’re the only organisation in southern Malawi able to feed, house and care for these babies and support their return to their communities.
