The Great Cambridge Jump · 6 March 2011

The Great North Air Ambulance Service keeps families together by saving lives. We provide critical care 365 days a year to the people of the North East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

Story

On 27th June 2010, Great North Air Ambulance helped save my life after I sustained a serious head injury, falling headfirst onto rocks while walking in the Lake District (http://www.cockermouthmrt.org.uk/callouts.aspx, Incident No. 39). The isolated location of the accident meant that traditional medical help was impossible. Foot or helicopter provided the only access. Working with Mountain Rescue, Air Ambulance found us within the hour and the paramedic administered fluids and oxygen, and organised an airlift to hospital with RAF Search and Rescue.

This charity means a lot to me and I want to raise some money as a way of saying thank you. On March 6th, I will be skydiving for the first time and freefalling at up to 120mph, as part of the Great Cambridge Jump (http://www.chooseachallenge.com/skydive/cambridge/). The money I raise will go towards training staff and keeping helicopters flying. Despite their incredible work, GN Air Ambulance receives no government funding and costs upwards of £5m a year to run. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated.
