Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
In September '08 I'm heading off with VSO to Ethiopia to volunteer at Mekelle University for a year, training teachers in IT and maintaining/developing their IT infrastructure. You'll be able to track my progress, both preparation and whilst I'm away on my blog.
"Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world with 44% of the population living below the national poverty line. Income per head is only $100 per annum, and the standards of health and education are significantly worse than the average for sub Saharan Africa. VSO has been working in Ethiopia since 1996 and it is currently one of the largest country programmes with over 100 volunteers working in the areas of Education, HIV & AIDS and Participation and Governance. VSO depends on fundraising to recruit, train and support volunteers like me to share my skills and helping people in developing countries.
