Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

The money raised will be going to the Beatson Pebble Appeal, c/o Glasgow Uni Trust, which is the charity set up for the building of the new Cancer Research Centre in Glasgow. I intend to take the quick way over the Clyde on 24th March using a zipwire - permission from Professor Funk, who performed a fair amount of restorative surgery on my shoulder this summer, has been given! Mum worked in Glasgow for 28 years as a Consultant Radiotherapist and had always advocated a main centre for Glasgow for research to be at the cutting edge of Cancer Treatment. She worked at the Beatson and it is good that they have chosen this name for the Centre. Her grandson, Malcolm, is also doing this with me in memory of her. As we use a waist harness I am hoping that by the time I get to the other side I shall have an 18 inch waist!

Please support this very worthwhile cause if you possibly can!

with many thanks, Alexa and Malcolm

18th March.

Only 6 days to go....the adrenalin is beginning to pump! Everyone has been incredibly generous and supportive...thank you all so much.

Let us just hope for a lovely day so we get a good view from the top before plunging across to the other side. I can't believe we are doing this....it must be in the genes!

26th March

Well we did it! The worst bit was just as I was about to take off from the crate hanging from the crane. There is only one way to look and that is to the other side which means you look down. It was a glorious day and we had cheer leaders supporting us from the ground. Hopefully Prof Funk will be impressed with the straight raised arm showing off his handywork on my shoulder last July! What a surgeon.

Well thanks to all of you and your generous natures the Beatson is over £2000 better off. What fantastic support we have had in this crazy venture. Not only on justgiving page but also on our sponsor forms. We couldn't have done it without you, and with all of you giving so much there was no way I could chicken out!!
