Ethembeni - ‘Places of Hope’  is a project in a settlement 12km from the town of Howick in the Kwa Zulu Natal midlands in South Africa. Of this community of 43,000 people, more than 80% are unemployed and more than a third are infected with HIV.

Ethembeni aims: "To provide spiritual, emotional and practical assistance to families affected by HIV & AIDS in the Mpophomeni area through the provision of home based care, family support with a focus on vulnerable children and residential care for terminally ill people".
