In a mad moment, I agreed to take part in the British Red Cross annual Jailed & Bailed event to be hosted by the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, Alderman and Mrs Ian Luder, on Monday 8 June.

This will be one of my very last activities as Master of the City of London Solicitors' Company so I should really welcome your support in this final venture.

I will be arrested at Mansion House, on charges yet to be confirmed, and then  transported by the City of London Police to the Tower of London where I will be incarcerated pending bail.

On the condition that I raise enough by way of bail in aid of the British Red Cross by 2pm that day, I will be a free woman again…but if not, I will be left to sample Her Majesty’s hospitality indefinitely! While I have been assured that I will be made ‘as comfortable as possible’ at the Tower if all else fails and I don’t reach bail, I implore you to help me by contributing towards my bail now!

All bail is raised in aid of the British Red Cross and I would be very grateful if you would give generously to this wonderful cause.

In crisis situations, people need the Red Cross when there is no one else to turn to. This year, millions of people will depend on the Red Cross, so helping me raise bail for this event means that the charity can be there when it counts.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support me – the British Red Cross will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 25% in tax will be added to your donation through the gift aid system at no cost to you.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read about my plight and help me: this is the request of a desperate woman!
