About our charity
:
Sailors’ Society
The Sailors' Society provides a personal lifeline for seafarers on board and when they step ashore. Existing to enrich and enhance the well-being of seafarers in port through its Port Chaplains and centres, seafarers are offered practical help and wellfare, spiritual support and when in dire need, financial assistance and family liason. Our Port Chaplains visit thousands of ships during the year and are often the first to notice when all is not well on board.
Reaching out to crew members of all ranks, without distinction for race, denomination, ethnic background or nationality, the Chaplains of the Sailors' Society offer a friendly presence, unconditionally greeting seafarers where they meet them. Working in a hundred ports and 30 countries the Chaplains regularly visit ships to dispense phone cards, news print from home, local knowledge, or transport to crews in nearby centres where facilities such as telephone and internet access are available.

| Our personal message: |
On 21 and 22 June a team from Hill Dickinson LLP will be taking part in the Cargill/BISS Three Peaks Challenge. The team is made up of three of our assistant solicitors, Alex Saxty, Marie Sundell, and Laura Alston. It will involve climbing Ben Nevis (1344m), Helvellyn (950m) and Snowdon (1085m) three of the highest Peaks in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours. Each team has to raise a minimum of £5,000 and the funds raised will go towards the work of the Sailors Society in helping and caring for the 1.5 million seafarers worldwide and their families. The Society provides practical support and counselling to seafarers and their families in difficult times and their many Chaplains are always ready to provide advice and assistance irrespective of a person’s belief or nationality. The Society also has Centres in many ports offering a friendly welcome for visiting seafarers when they are away from home and also a warm, family environment in their homes for retired seafarers in Scotland and Cornwall.
We hope that you will want to support us in our challenge and contribute to this very worthwhile cause. Donations through the Just Giving website are very easy and if you pay tax in the UK then an additional 28% in tax will be added to your donation at no cost to you. Many thanks for your support.
Alex, Marie, and Laura
