Story
Hi everyone,
On the 17th & 18th September, I & a group of friends are doing the 3 Peaks Challenge.
We have from 6pm on Saturday 'til 6pm Sunday to climb the country's 3 highest peaks: Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District & Snowdon in Wales. They total 3408m in height (11178 ft in old money), and we're doing it the proper way- a race against the clock, 24hs including the drive between them- it'll be a genuine gamble.
Now, I am not a naturally athletic person. I've never set foot in a gym. I've got messed up cartilage in both knees. To me, running is for if you're being chased. Odd are, this is probably the most athletic thing I'll do in my whole life. So why?
The answer is that we're raising money for Parity For Disability, an amazing charity which supports adults and teenagers with multiple disabilities. It's small, its staff work incredibly hard, and for many of the families who use its services, it's their main source of support. I've been lucky enough to work for this organisation, and met some of the great people it helps. Have a look here http://www.parityfordisability.org.uk/teen.html to see the great stuff they do, andsee the photos to see what the Summer Teen Scheme get up to.
So, please do sponsor me- let's make the exhaustion, wobbly limbs and falling down a mountain in the dark worth it. The money goes straight to Parity, and if you Giftaid it, they'll get even more out of your donation. The site's very trustyworthy, but for those of you who'd prefer can give me a cheque.
Many thanks, Alex
