Story
Previously whenever I tried to "get fit" I've usually joined a gym for a while and then given up within a month or two as I've been too busy or too lazy, but no longer. I've come up with a brilliant, new, soon to be patented Fitness Regime. Namely; emotional blackmail. In order to ensure I don't give up, I have signed up for a Half-Marathon in October called Run to the Beat and - here's the clever bit - I have decided to donate money to a fantastic charity called African Promise (http://www.africanpromise.org.uk/) who raise money to improve the education facilities in Kasigau, Kenya, which is the region of Africa where I spent my Gap-year (check out the website). African Promise aims to provide brand new classrooms with enough desks for all the children, education resources including a library with up to date text books and sanitary toilet facilities in five villages in the Kasigau area. I can vouch for the fact that these children deserve these schools so much, because I taught some of them myself in a room with bare mud walls, a blackboard and one or two Text-Books for a class of around 25. Despite this, the kids were some of the happiest I have ever seen so I'm not going to let them down. So please sponsor me anything you can spare and help me Blackmail Myself Thin (TM). Thanks, Alex http://www.justgiving.com/alexelviss/ PS It would be great if you want to come and cheer me on. Or just point and laugh. It's up to you.
