THANKS AGAIN!
AL Xx
Firstly, thanks for visiting my sponsorship page! I've never done anything like this before so am thrilled at the opportunity to be raising money for such a good cause, so, here's the plan...
I will be cycling to St Tropez from London from 20th September to 30th September '09 - if this sounds familiar to any of you reading this, that's probably because I'll be joining my great friends Jamie "Le Coque" Hockin and Andrew "The Wolf" Wolfe-Murray who concocted the hair brain idea of cycling the 1000 miles in 10 days... basically I've jumped on their bandwagon... unfortunately they've informed me that it's not literally "a wagon", and I will still need to pedal all the way to St Tropez... Now for the serious part and the reason why I'm doing this... My sister, Jo, passed away from lung cancer 3 years ago (aged only 29) and I've decided that, in my 30th year, it's about time that I raised some money for an extremely worthwhile charity that supported my big sister to the end - The Marie Curie Nurses - they were a massive help to Jo and my family at a phenomenally difficult time and I’m certain that they provide this same exceptional care to countless other families too – for further information, please see their website - http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/ I would also like to add that Jamie and Wolfie are cycling for an equally worthwhile cancer charity, The Candlelighters, who helped Jamie’s family immensely when he lost his young sister to kidney cancer 22 years ago. For more info on the St Tropez cycle trip and their charity, please have a look at their website http://www.london2sttropez.co.uk/ - I do now even make an appearance in the blog section (although the photo looks nothing like me as I don't wear glasses but am in that photo for some reason... it wasn't a training day!)... I hope that this information demonstrates my dedication and intent to see this through all the way to the beaches of St Tropez… I know that last statement makes this sound like “a jolly”, but whilst I can’t wait to reach the destination, I’m sure that Jamie, Wolfie and myself will have undergone quite a journey in getting there… Many thanks for your support,Alex
