Story

I'm running the Half Marathon in the Great Scottish Run on Sunday September 4th.  The longest race I've done previously is 5km, so this is pretty daunting!  I've been busy training over the last couple of months though, so I'm pretty sure I'll get through the 13.1 miles around Glasgow. If you'd like to come and watch on the day, you can do so along the route or at the finish on Glasgow Green.

Unity in the Community funds a number of projects supporting asylum seekers in Glasgow and across Scotland.  It provides services for people who aren't allowed to work or claim benefits over the many months it can take to get their asylum claim processed.  These include food and clothing, English classes, a women's group, and a dedicated helpline for LGBT asylum seekers (who are often not able to access support from their ethnic/religious communities).

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now, even if it's just a couple of pounds. Also, please share this page with your friends to help support this very worthy cause!
