Possibly against my better judgement I have agreed to participate in my friend Veronica's 30th birthday 'spend only a tenner for a week' challenge!
The money I save will be going to Cecily's Fund, an amazing charity helping orphans and vulnerable children in Zambia go to school. I've estimated the amount I think I'll save over the week (21st-29th November) and that's the first donation on this page.
It would be great if you could sponsor me. A £25 donation enables a child to go to school for a whole year.
You can donate through this page. Its simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
The rules of the challenge!
I start on day one with ten pounds sterling and it has to last me a week. Rent, household bills, and travel don’t count. The £10 basically has to cover food and discretionary expenditure, like newspapers, drinks etc. I am allowed to use stocks from my cupboard (and use some stuff thats been sitting there for months) but I AM NOT ALLOWED to stock up espcecially! Normal shopping patterns must apply re-spend-a-tenner-week. Unusual levels of scrounging are also banned.
This is not a hair-shirt type challenge! We are intending to have fun!
There are lots of activites planned for the free week. All free - or nearly! Art galleries, films, pancakes (very cheap!), a clothes and books swap evening...Many of them rely on other people being willing to join in the challenge!
The target is for the the group to raise £2000 - enough to send 80 children to school for year.
Please help if you can!
Thanks
Alice
