My story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I'm been to India twice now, for three weeks at Christmas with people from Colchester Sixth Form and another three weeks in July with two others from the IndEx 8 group, and four people who hadn't been before, all in aid of the Russ Foundation.
The Russ Home is a family for orphaned and disadvantaged girls to educate them, provide health care and give them love.We helped improved the girls' English so that they can continue to study after compulsory education, dug miles and miles of bundhs and also went on field visits. Russ Foundation also has an HIV/AIDS initiative which is now in phase three, focussing on children infected and affected by HIV, as well as support for homosexuals and sex workers. The newest project which began when I returned in July is introducing disabled children into the Russ Home. Mani, a seven year old boy who looks only three years old, has club foot. He is one of the chattiest, happiest boys I have ever met and yet he has HIV, was severly malnourished when he arrived at Russ and had been brutally abused by his step mother. This girls at Russ all have similar stories and yet are so amazing and cheerful and you can't help but love them all. Going to India was so eye opening, hence why I've been back and hope to return next June.
