Story
My friend Kate Yarrow runs her own charity called Doctors For Nepal
- which she set up after working for MSF in Nepal 3 years ago.
This year we are trying to get funds to send the next student to
medical school in Nepal, and need £7000 asap to do so. We are running in
May - and over 95% of each pound you donate will go straight to the
medical school fees and living costs of the students.
Nepal has shocking health-care statistics, with nearly 1:50 women dying in childbirth, and only 1 in 100 having any medical care what so ever in pregnancy. In many areas over 50% of under 5's suffer from malnutrition. Each doctor trained will look after over 150,000 patients! (compare that to the 3,000 your GP at home will look after). By supporting me run, you will be changing the lives of thousands of poor people in rural Nepal who do not currently have a doctor looking after them.
As this is a very small charity, your money will go a long way in the development of the charity, and towards the future of health care in Nepal. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
