"When Children Play, the World Wins" Sincerest thanks to everyone who has supported me over the past year in various events, beginning with the 2007 Edinburgh Marathon, and most recently The 2008 Flora London Marathon on April 13th, which I completed in 3:07:21... finishing 1589th... though 347th in my age group sounds so much better! Not quite sub-3h, but 5min faster than Edinburgh... so there's my goal for next year! Along the way, I also took part in the Adidas Half Marathon at Silverstone on March 9th, finishing 76th out of a field of over 4900 runners, in a time of 1:24:25. Now I just need to swim to France... As some of you may recall, last year I was aiming to swim the English Channel as one member of a team of six. Unfortunately, due to conditions that were persistently less than favourable, we were forced to postpone. Undaunted by last year's setbacks, five of us, Dave, Duncan, Kyri, Lucio and I, are scheduled for another try in June... Deb left us for another man! Once again this year, the money I raise will be in aid of Right To Play UK. Over 700 million children don't know what it means to play. Right To Play is helping to change that. Right To Play is a humanitarian organisation using sport and play programmes to encourage the healthy physical, social and emotional development of the world's most disadvantaged children. Right To Play is committed to improving the lives of these children and to strengthening their communities by translating the best values of sport into opportunities to promote development, health and peace. Right To Play is built on the belief that sport has the power to help create healthier children and safer communities. Anyone still wishing to sponsor me, please feel free to do so here... this page will still be open for donations until mid-June. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Right To Play UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
