Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The challenge is to compete at a British Eventing 80 event by autumn this year. To my non horsey friends this means completing dressage, showjumping and cross county all in one day. 'But she loves horse riding - its not  challenge' I hear you cry. Well yes I love riding, but I never thought I could possibly achieve this and nerves of steel plus a considerable improvement in my skill level will be required to get us safely round. The cross country phase is the scary one - big solid fences that you can't make a mistake at- imaging jumping your desk at work and you wont be far out. I only started jumping again last year after 30 (yes 30!!) years off! To get to jumping one fence at this height has cost lots of sweat, bruises and bitten nails so far, and I have two courses of 15 odd fences each to get through.

Cancer will affect 1 in 2 of us I'm told. This challenge was created in memory of a young rider called Hannah, however I am taking personal inspiration from a wonderful lady called Jane Hamnet who was sadly taken  from us last year by this terrible disease. Jane started fund-raising for cancer by undertaking personal challenges and I dedicate my efforts to continuing her work.

Hannah's story is best read in her own words - please visit her charity's website, and become a friend of Willberry. They desperately need long term commitment, to help realise Hannah's vision.www.willberrywonderpony.org

About the charity

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.
