Story
10th July, 4pm: Oh.My.God. I can't believe I have actually DONE this !! Big thankyou to the people at Redlands Airfield, for making falling out of a plane seem so natural and easy, I can't believe how relaxed I was (after a minor wobble on arrival....) Screamed all the way through the freefall, and then just floated gently down once the canopy was open. Brilliant. Thankyou everyone for supporting me on this. I will post video & pics when I get them. :-)
Last November my 12 year old godson, Fergus Moran, died suddenly. I want to do something positive in his memory, so on 11th July I am doing a charity tandem skydive for Retrak - an organisation that is passionate about improving the lives of street children in Africa, and is also a charity that Fergus was interested in.
Those of you who know me well will appreciate just how huge a personal challenge this is - I am nervous getting onto a plane in the first place, never mind jumping out of one to freefall from 10,000 feet ! Fortunately I will be strapped to a big strong man (fantastic!) who will be doing all the clever stuff, whilst I just relax and and enjoy the view... (whimper). To be perfectly honest, I am absolutely terrified !!
You know the score re: donating through Justgiving and Gift Aid for taxpayers, so I shan't bore you with all that.
Please, PLEASE sponsor me - anything you can spare would be hugely appreciated. The cost of the jump has already been covered, so everything raised here will all go to Retrak (and you've all been fantastic - over £1,000! That is excellent... thankyou so much)
Thanks, Al
