Hi Everyone! Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I hope you well, with your feet up and enjoying life as I'm about to ask for your support in running 131 miles in events this year (and approximately 832 miles in training) and raising £1000 for a great charity! To support a great colleague of mine and a fantastic organisation called Family Care, I'm committing to run 10 half marathons before the end of the year. My colleague, having received life changing professional care from the Family Care team, has set up and is running “Project 40” which aims to raise £40 000 for the work of Nottinghamshire based Family Care by the end of 2008. The project has 40 individuals each taking on personal challenges to raise £1000 in sponsorship towards the overall goal! Last year I ran 3 half marathons, so my challenge will more than triple last year's efforts! My best time last year was 1 hour 52 minutes and I'd really like to run under 1 hour 50 this year if my legs will play ball! I will, on average be running a half marathon per month, and I'm kicking off in March in a big way with my first this Sunday in Milton Keynes and one the following Sunday at Silverstone. I will provide updates after every race to let you know how I got on, my time etc. and I may even throw in the odd embarrassing photo from the finishes of me looking like a beetroot! If I've failed in all of the above to compel you to support me in my quest, consider that in pledging to sponsor me I could be saving you from: 3 Big Mac Meals 5 Starbucks coffees a very nice bottle of wine that additional coloured lipstick you haven't got room in your make-up bag for Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Family Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
I'm looking forward to the challenge of the runs, but more importantly, I'm excited about the chance to help to make a difference to the lives of some children I don't yet know but who really need my support. I know that many of you already do an enormous amount for various charities and therefore please don't feel that you have to sponsor me but if you are able to that would be great. I cheekily mentioned £10 for 10 half marathons above, but seriously any small amount will make a huge difference. If you are able to support me in any way you can, I will be incredibly grateful (including helping me up and down the stairs by the middle of the year!!) See you all soon, Alison P.S. And if anyone wants to join me in running any of the events, I'd love the company..............!!!!
