Story
As if I need an extra incentive to haul myself through 210kms of the Amazonian jungle - that isn't running from snakes, jaguars and wee beasties; not to mention swimming from piranhas and trying my best to avoid those little fish that implant themselves in that rather delicate of man areas - the opportunity to raise money for Children 1st will certainly drive me on.
Children 1st is a Scottish charity that my mum does some work for and sets out to ensure that every child in Scotland has a safe and secure childhood - www.children1st.org.uk.
Any donation you can provide will be much appreciated and certainly make the blisters worthwhile.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children 1st will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
To give you a little flavour of what I'll be putting myself through, I've attached a video clip of one of the stages...and there's plenty more on YouTube. During the event you will also be able to follow my progress in the race by going to the race blog at the main website - www.junglemarathon.com - you can even send me a message!
Many thanks and assuming I make it back, look forward to seeing you soon.
Alistair
