Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

It is sometimes hard to choose a charity to support. There are so many worthy causes. I'm raising money for the RNLI Lifeboats and fellow volunteer crew members because I've seen first hand the work they do. Literally thousands of people per year are rescued by the lifeboats and lifeguards around our coastline, and now with a dedicated flood rescue team the brave, life-saving exploits of volunteers can make a difference on our rivers as well as our seas.

What I think is important about the RNLIs work is the freedom it gives normal people like you and I to go and enjoy the sea - swim, surf, sail - in the knowledge that there is always someone there to help if you get in to trouble. Please support generously with your donations.

What is it I am going to do to try and earn your generosity?

On Sunday 11th september 2011 I will attempt my first Ironman Triathlon. This has been an ambition of mine for a number of years but it never seemed it could be a reality. The 140 miles just seemed too great a challenge: divided in to three disciplines the race consists of 3.8km swimming in the sea, immediately followed by a hilly 180km bike ride which is subsequently followed by a full distance marathon of 42km. Indeed this is a lot to ask of my body, I can only hope that 9 months of training has been enough to prepare me for the day.

It has been hard at times to maintain the focus to train consistently, life is fantastically busy and there is always something better to do than go and cycle for 8 hours in the rain, or swim alone in the cold stormy sea. Without the unconditional support that Steph has given me there is no way I could have even considered training for such an event. Thank you xxx

I'm looking forward to seeing some friendly faces on the day... Wish me luck!
