My story

It was with great sadness that one of our core club coaches and friend, Alistair Tully, had passed away. Our thoughts are with his wife Carole and his daughters Shona and Ailis.

Alistair was known for his energy and humour around our training sessions and during the long days away at matches. He made a wonderful contribution to the morale of athletes and coaches and we will all feel his absence sharply.

As an initial mark of respect, the Club held a minute's silence at the start of training sessions and it was beautifully observed by all present, from youngest to eldest - a tribute to the respect and fondness afforded to Alistair.

The club will miss Alistair's extraordinary patience and energy, especially with our youngsters. Any club is fortunate to have the services of someone who just gets on with the job and grasps responsibility with both hands. To do this with a smile on your face and putting a smile on the faces of those around you... well that's something exceptional. We are just grateful that he chose to share his time, energy and skill with us all.

Ali & I were at school together. Reading these comments, I realise he hadn't changed much over the years, caring and funny to the end. Donation by Tracy Packman (McLean) 17/12/08

We remember Alistair for generously giving his time to coach. We remember particularly the stirring call he taught us: OWA TANA SIAM. God bless. Donation by The Hull Family 09/11/08
