Story
Well the deed is done and we have climbed the 3 highest peaks in Britain back to back.....and we are buzzing!! You will now find us hobbling around our respective villages/towns looking bleary eyed after only a few cat naps in the car between mountains and as for walking down stairs, well Stannah's profits will be boosted shortly!
We had a few incidents along the way which prevented us breaking the 24 hour barrier such as cows on the M74 closing the motorway which added almost 2 hours to one section, poor Lizzie's knee ligaments seizing so that she had to complete half the challenge without bending her leg and of course some pretty inclement weather but there we go....we are even talking of returning to give it another go as that time target will haunt us until it is achieved.
So we are pleased to confirm that in total we will have raised over £4000 in sponsorship but more pennies are always welcome and I would be most grateful if you fancy adding to the AfriKids pot here!
My involvement with AfriKids will always be very special to me and the little boy, Martin who I sponsor through them out in Ghana would not be alive if it wasn't for the fantastic work they do. AfriKids is a Child Rights Organisation, which works alongside indigenous communities in Ghana to improve the quality of life for rejected and vulnerable children. They target the root causes of the children's problems, by improving community support services and by providing access to basic education and primary health care... do go to their website for further information www.afrikids.org
Please donate whatever you can afford and tick the Gift Aid box if you are a UK tax payer as the UK Government will then give us an additional 25% on the money that we have raised.
Thanks again and with huge gratitude from ALI TOVEY, THE MAD BIRDS AND GORDON! xxxx
