Story

Right, I’ve decided two things;

1) Its about time I did something proper for charity (including helping out the old man and his Samaritans fundraising) rather than sitting on my backside in a cell like some!

2) I got myself in shape

So I’ve decided to combine the two and for some silly reason I’ve entered the 2010 Blenheim Palace Triathlon on June 6th. It consists of a 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run around . Now I’m sure there will be some of you fitness fanatics that claim it doesn't sound hard and granted, to some it's probably not. However taking into account my shape and fitness levels this is going to hurt!

So seen as I’m going to drag myself around this I’d appreciate any donation you can throw my way. I appreciate it seems everyone is walking round a park or sitting in jail for charity these days but I assure you there is a lot of work going to go into this and I’m even willing to lay a few bets in terms of completed times (winnings going towards the charity).

As for where the money is going, I hope you will sponsor me on behalf of the Leeds Samaritans. This is a charity very close to my family's heart and I’m sure most of you will know of my parents connection with Samaritans and the fantastic work they do on a purely voluntary basis and I think it's time I helped the organisation with the work they do. With no central funding from government Leeds Samaritans alone need to raise £1,000 a week to keep going and to continue helping those who have nowhere else to turn. You can find out more details about Sams here - http://www.samaritans.org/talk_to_someone/find_my_local_branch/yorkshire_and_the_humber/leeds.aspx

I will also be collecting money in person from certain individuals to be donated to Asthma (I'm unable to combine the two on this page due to gift aid reasons). Having suffered with Asthma since I was very young, and knowing I’ll probably need a couple of puffs on my inhaler while doing the triathlon, I’d like to give something to a charity that aims to improve the health of those with asthma, especially those who suffer far more badly than myself. If you would prefer to donate to these then you can get in touch and we'll arrange a separate donation.

Cheers for the help guys and as I said, any bets on finishing time (within reason) are most welcome and of course the abuse that is bound to come on the comments section :)
